Troops of the Nigerian Military have foiled makes an attempt by suspected smugglers to maneuver 139 baggage of international parboiled rice into Kwara state.
The contraband which had been conveyed in two automobiles, had been seized by troops of the 22 Armoured Brigade alongside the Shao-Jebba Expressway in Moro Native Authorities Space of Kwara State on Monday.
In accordance with the Military, the troops had been conducting “operation checkmate” once they stopped the automobiles, stated to be headed to an undisclosed vacation spot.
“The automobiles, a Mazda sedan with registration quantity LNR465AL and a Premacy wagon with registration quantity RA264AA, had been stopped by vigilant troops manning a checkpoint.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the drivers had been heading to an undisclosed vacation spot once they had been apprehended,” the Military stated.
Handing over the baggage of rice and automobiles to the Comptroller of the Nigerian Customs Service, Kwara Space Command, Religion Mathew Ojeifo, the Commander, 22 Armoured Brigade, Maj.-Gen. Oluwafemi Williams, stated the seizures and handover had been according to the imaginative and prescient of the Chief of the Military Employees (COAS).
Comptroller Ojeifo expressed gratitude to the Nigerian Military for his or her synergy and collaboration, noting that the partnership had considerably boosted operational success throughout Kwara State and environs.
“This growth underscores the significance of inter-agency cooperation in safeguarding Nigeria’s economic system and guaranteeing compliance with customs laws,” Ojeifo stated.
