
Kaduna has been thrown into darkness after Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KAEDCO) sacked 900 employees.
The Nation gathered the corporate began distributing the termination of appointment letters since Saturday by Sunday.
Staffers beneath the auspices of Nationwide Union of Electrical energy Workers (NUEE) on Monday launched into an indefinite strike to protest the sack.
They picketed the Headquarters of the corporate on Ahmadu Bello Means, Kaduna, signing solidarity songs.
The aggrieved staff, who carried placards with varied inscriptions on Monday, blocked the doorway of the company headquarters of Kaduna Electrical energy Distribution Firm and prevented staff and even clients from going into the premises.
The aggrieved staff beneath the umbrella of the Nationwide Union of Electrical energy Workers (NUEE) accused the administration of high-handedness and aromatic disregard for all industrial agreements.
The Chairman, NUEE, Kaduna state Council, Comrade Sheyin Nuhu Wakili advised reporters: “Whereas making an attempt to handle the problems, the administration has terminated the employment of 10 senior employees members with out adhering to the corporate’s circumstances of service. Regardless of our interventions and agreements from earlier conferences, these actions haven’t been totally applied.
“To our dismay, we now have learnt that the administration has initiated the termination of over 900 further employees members.”

Nevertheless, the conpany’s administration mentioned the variety of employees affected by the sack was less than 900 as alleged by the hanging staff.
Abdulazeez Abdullahi, the Head of Company Communications of Kaduna Electrical energy Distribution Firm advised The Nation the deadlock can be resolved tomorrow (Tuesday).

The letter signed by the Deputy Managing Director of the KADECO, Abubakar Mohammed, advised the affected staff that their providers had been now not wanted by the corporate from January 31, 2025.
