Justice Mojisola Dada of the Lagos Particular Offences Court docket in Ikeja yesterday fastened March 13 for additional trial in absentia of social celeb, Ismail Mustapha (aka Mompha).

Justice Dada fastened the date after the sixth prosecution witness of the Financial and Monetary Crimes Fee (EFCC), Idi Musa, gave proof within the cash laundering expenses the fee filed towards Mompha.

On the resumed trial yesterday, the EFCC was represented by Suleiman I. Suleiman, whereas Mompha was represented by Kolawole Salami, who appeared with Ademola Adefolaju.

Led by Suleiman, the prosecution witness, who was recalled to testify within the matter, tendered paperwork reportedly obtained from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

However Salami objected to the admissibility of the paperwork on the bottom that they emanated from the US Division of Justice via the U.S. Consulate in Nigeria.

The defence lawyer mentioned his objection was according to sections 102 and 104 of the Proof Act, stressing that the EFCC was not the maker of the paperwork and couldn’t certify similar.

However ruling, the courtroom admitted the paperwork as Displays P8, P9, and P10.

Musa admitted that the primary defendant acknowledged throughout investigation that the wristwatches recovered from him belonged to him, regardless that he didn’t enter similar within the Asset Declaration Type he crammed upon his arrest.

Throughout cross-examination, the witness admitted that Mompha was arrested in 2019 and was earlier charged earlier than the Federal Excessive Court docket in Ikoyi, Lagos, for alleged cash laundering-related offences.
