
No fewer than 4 individuals reportedly died in Rimin Auzinawa, Ungogo Local Government Area of Kano State following a conflict between residents of the realm and safety operatives throughout a demolition train.
Police spokesman, Abdullahi Kiyawa, a Superintendent of Police (SP) confirmed the incident to newsmen.
The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Nigeria Safety and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Kano State command, Ibrahim Abdullahi, additionally confirmed the incident.
Eyewitnesses mentioned safety personnel allegedly opened hearth after residents have been resisting the destruction of their buildings.
“4 individuals have been shot lifeless, whereas others suffered gun accidents,” a supply mentioned.
It was gathered the Kano City Planning and Growth Authority had marked about 40 buildings, principally residential buildings that are underneath building, for demolition.
The disputed land belongs to Bayero College, Kano, it was learnt.
KNUPDA has not issued an official response on the tragic incident as at press time.
Abdullahi mentioned the representatives of the police, DSS and NSCDC have been invited to offer safety on the demolition websites which turned bloody.
He mentioned: “Representatives of the police, DSS and NSCDC have been invited to offer safety on the buildings that have been marked to be demolished.
“The residents who weren’t glad in regards to the demolition began stoning the safety operatives who reported there.
“However when the state of affairs degenerated into violence, our folks (NSCDC) acted professionally and withdrew tactfully.”
