The Lagos State Government has scheduled Monday, December 2, 2024, for the second phase of the Basic Education Certificate Examination resit for students transitioning to Senior Secondary School 1.
The resit examination is scheduled at the Lagos State Examinations Board headquarters in Iyana Ipaja, commencing at 10 am.
In a tweet posted on Friday via the official X account of the state government, it was stated that the second resit was organised to “provide another opportunity for students who missed the previous BECE resit held on Wednesday, November 6, 2024.”
This was confirmed in a statement signed and released by the Director of the Lagos State Examinations Board, Mr Orunsolu Adebayo.
Highlighting the importance of English Studies and Mathematics as “core subjects and prerequisites” for admission into SS1, Adebayo emphasised the board’s role in promoting academic excellence and ensuring credible examinations.
He explained that students who missed the initial resit would be able to retake either English Studies, Mathematics, or both, ensuring they meet the requirements for progression.
The statement reiterated the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education’s policy of “Leave No Child Behind,” aimed at ensuring equitable access to free, quality education in Lagos State.
Adebayo urged stakeholders and school authorities to encourage affected students to take advantage of this opportunity, stressing the need for cooperation to achieve shared educational goals.
