President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday known as on the Senate to approve his proposed sack of three Resident Electoral Commissioners of the Unbiased Nationwide Electoral Fee (INEC).

The three RECs embody: Dr. Nura Ali (Sokoto State Resident Electoral Commissioner); Barr. Hudu Yunusa Ari (Adamawa State Resident Electoral Commissioner) and Prof.

Ikemefuna Chijioke Uzochukwu (Abia State Resident Electoral Commissioner).

Tinubu’s letter of request was learn on the ground by Senate President Godswill Akpabio throughout plenary.

He mentioned the affected RECs are presently on suspension for misconduct.

The letter was titled: “Request to terminate the appointment of suspended Resident Electoral Commissioners of Adamawa, Sokoto, and Abia states.”

The letter reads partially: “In accordance with Part 157 Subsection 1 of the Structure of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999, as amended.

“I hereby request the Senate to contemplate and vote for the termination of the appointments of the suspended Resident Electoral Commissioners of Adamawa, Sokoto, and Abia states.

“The Senate is invited to notice that the three Resident Electoral Commissioners have been suspended for misconduct since March 2022 earlier than the arrival of the present administration.

“I belief that the Senate will think about this request expeditiously. Please, settle for, distinguished Senators and Senate President, the assurances of my highest consideration.”
